Documents you will need

During the application process, you must upload:

  • final certificates from your completed qualifications (up to 4)
  • official transcripts showing all subjects and grades, signed and dated by the awarding institution (they are also known as mark sheets or grading sheets)
  • certified translations if your documents are not in English (find out more about the Translation Waiver Service)
  • proof of identity (for example, your passport or driving license)
  • evidence of name changes, if your current name is different from the one on your qualifications (for example, a marriage certificate or change of name deed (opens in a new tab))

In the UK, you often need to show evidence of a high school qualification when applying for jobs, further studies, apprenticeships or professional registration. We recommend that you include your high school qualification along with up to 3 other qualifications as part of your application.

We might ask for more documents if we need them.

We will only accept documents from the awarding institution and not an affiliate college.

Documents you may need for your English skills

There are different documents you might need to show to prove your English skills:

A Functional Skills Level 2 English qualification is different from a SELT.

Functional Skills Level 2 English

If you learned English as a second language in school, we may not be able to include information about this in your Statement.

You may need to take the Functional Skills Level 2 English qualification. This shows that you have the essential English skills for work and further study in the UK.

Functional Skills Level 2 is similar to a GCSE in England, or equivalent qualifications in Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland. Functional Skills Level 2 is an academic qualification, not a test of English proficiency.

UK ENIC does not provide English skills courses.

SELT

A SELT is used to show your English skills to the Home Office for visas, immigration and some jobs or studies.

It is for people who need to prove they can speak and understand English well for settlement purposes, including visa applications, settlement, indefinite leave to remain and citizenship applications.

UK ENIC does not provide these.

How to upload your documents

Upload clear colour photographs of your documents in JPEG, PDF or bitmap format.

The maximum file size for each photograph is 10 MB. You can do more than one upload.

Make sure all 4 corners of each document are visible and placed on a flat surface. We may ask for more photographs if the documents do not meet our requirements.
